Navit OpenStreetMap (OSM) maps location setup

Normally Navit uses the internal memory to store the OpenStreetMap (OSM) maps that it downloads from the Internet. However maps data is generally very large and therefore it might need to be stored in the external SD card.

In order to configure Navit to store the maps in the external storage (highly recommended and mandatory for most users), you need to click on the Navit Menu icon, select "Set map location" and then, using the directory browser, select the /storage/sdcard1/Android/data/org.navitproject.navit/files/navit directory, finally restart the application.

Writing to any other location in the external SD card is not allowed. Once the application has been restarted, it is possible to download the required maps by clicking on the Navit Menu icon and then selecting "Download maps".
